Paradise: A Hilarious New Comedy Starring Owen Reynolds
Sweeps the Awards at the 2023 New York Theater Festival
Paradise is a hilarious new stage comedy starring Owen as newlywed John Davidson on his tropical honeymoon at a rundown seaside Cancun resort that is anything but paradise. The show premiered at the LATEA Theater (Teatro LATEA) in New York City in November 2023 as part of the New York Theater Festival. Paradise was awarded Best Production, Best Direction, and Best Actor by the Festival and Owen was also nominated for Best Actor for his performance.
Sara and John Davidson (Owen Reynolds) have just eloped and arrive at the Paradise Cove Resort in Cancun for the honeymoon of their dreams only to find that John’s travel deal has left the couple trapped inside a vacation nightmare that gets worse (and funnier) by the minute! With their new union on the rocks, a lesbian couple along with a manic hotel manager bulldoze their way into the relationship in order to resolve the conflict while also restoring the couple’s faith in love.
Written and directed by the award-winning, talented Michael David Stoddard (Executive and Creative Director of Miami-based theater company Miami Theatre Works), the world premiere of Paradise took the stage at the New York Theater Festival.
